Well, after some deliberation, I've decided to post the next candidate. My goal with this series is to highlight actors you may not have heard of, or that you might have heard of but didn't know some of their rarer work. So without further ado I present Lordsathien's ASotM for the month of May:

Barry Gordon

Barry Gordon (born December 21, 1948 in Brookline, Massachusetts) is an American film and television actor. He was the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1988 to 1995.

Gordon's career began as a child star, with his million-selling hit record "Nuttin' for Christmas" in the '50s, which continues to be a holiday favorite. His TV debut came at three years old on Ted Mack's Amateur Hour. He also appeared on The Jackie Gleason Show and Star Time with Benny Goodman.

In the mid-1950s, rock legend Bill Haley wrote the song "Six Year Olds Can Rock and Roll" for Barry Gordon. It's not known if Gordon ever recorded it; Haley's demo recording surfaced in the 1980s.

Gordon had a recurring role in the last two seasons of the television series All in the Family, then known as Archie Bunker's Place, in which he played Archie's Jewish accountant Gary Rabinowitz. Gordon also had guest-starring roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. Perhaps his most famous role was opposite Jason Robards in A Thousand Clowns in 1965. It was a reprise of the same role he created on Broadway, which earned Gordon a Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Dramatic). Recently he has appeared as a recurring character on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Gordon is also a voice actor featured in such animated series as Jabberjaw, The Kid Superpower Hour with Shazam!, Mighty Orbots, The Snorks, and SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron. Gordon also provided the voice of the Quik Bunny/NesQuik Bunny character in commercials for Nestlé Quik/NesQuik. His most notable voice roles were Donatello and Bebop in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In 1996 Gordon, a Democrat, ran for the Burbank-Glendale based congressional seat being vacated by retiring Republican Rep. Carlos Moorhead. He lost the primary to fellow Democrat Doug Kahn, who went on to lose to then assemblyman James Rogan (R-Glendale). In 1998 Gordon ran again and this time won the primary. He narrowly lost to Rogan 51%-46%, however. Incidently, Rogan went on to become a manager in the GOP's effort to impeach President Bill Clinton in the U.S. House. He lost his seat in 2000 as a result.

He currently hosts Barry Gordon From Left Field, a weekly radio show on KCAA Radio in Loma Linda, California; previously the show was heard on KRLA Radio in Los Angeles, California. He also hosts NewsRap, a widely watched local public access cable television show that airs on the Pasadena Community Access Corporation's Channel 56 in Pasadena, California, and streams to the internet.
