Welcome to the Video Game Olympics.

This is a multi-console event, and it is NOT a decathalon.

You may enter as many or as few events as you want.

For the first round there are 10 events you may choose from to compete against your fellow Sydlexians. The theme for round 1 is points. Just like the old days of Galaga, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong, You will be competing for the highest score of all.

Each round of the VGO will have a list of events all following a similar theme.

Please pay CLOSE attention to the rules for each event, as they differ from one another.

Sign-up's for Round 1 will start NOW and continue until Thursday March 31, 2011.
Submissions for each event will be accepted starting NOW until Friday April 8, 2011.
All deadlines are due by MIDNIGHT CST that would be central time

When signing up for events please post the event number's you would like to compete in.

2-2 Super Mario Bros.
Rules: Highest Score after FIRST life (Meaning you only have one life to rack up points)
No turtle stair hop trick(or any similar tricks, I.E. instead of the stairs, bouncing the turtle off of a tunnel, wall, etc. would be considered a similar trick)
You may only bounce off of the same enemy twice, any more than that and your run is disqualified
Warping IS allowed
You may not use any pipes to go anywhere OTHER than where the programmers intended them to go.

Rules: Your scoring attempt ends when you either lose your last life or complete the game
Your final total will be what is displayed under Total, as you technically don't keep the money in the stage until you go back to Duckburg and deposit it all. Remember: Different difficulty levels yield different money amounts. YOU MAY ONLY COLLECT EACH EXTRA LIFE ONCE! [This is due to a bug where they may reset in a level]

NES: VirtuaNES 0.97 (Link will be added once I find a decent one)

Please do not send AVI's or other movie files as submissions. It must be the .smv and .vmv file that the emulator records.

For filenames, follow this template: *YOURNAME*_*EVENTNUMBER*.smv or *YOURNAME*_*EVENTNUMBER*.vmv

Top 3 submissions (i.e. Gold, Silver, Bronze) will be uploaded to the youtube channel being created for this.

EDIT 2: There are no save states needed. each event starts from a new game.

im waiting to see how the turn out is, if it doesnt build up enough ill move the deadlines and go from there. I wasnt sure what to make the deadline so I just ballparked it and figured id get feedback on it

I guess ill wait till the end of today and see what everyone thinks about that username, and if the concensus is the same ill make it two weeks with 3 weeks for submissions.

Yea there's no point system in megaman but trust me megaman is coming. And thanks syd, I did run it by the Nes/snes team first but next time I'll shoot you a PM too.
