I'm still waiting for The State to come to dvd. That low-quality quicktime movie I used to have of the Doug at the Last Supper skit didn't cut it.

You can probably find a fan-made set on eBay. It won't be perfect, but it'll be better than Quicktime. Why? Because it won't use crappy Apple-affliated software.

Quicktime Alternative calls to you, Syd. It's the codec without the bullshit.

Do they still update it? I've been having a bitch of time finding newer versions of that and Real Alternative.

I've never had a problem with any .mov files or anything like that. What kind of updates were you looking for in particular, if any? Because to my knowledge it does everything (presumably, playing movies and allowing you to save mp3's that are played with quicktime) you'd want it to do.

Why mock QT? Hundreds of applications use QT... sure it's Mac, but did you know that "QuickTime Alternative" uses QT pro licensing (someone said it's quote "without the bullshit"... without the licensing it would be nothing)! Even RealPlayer uses QT playback...

Well, Real Player kinda sucks. QT does too. Even if QT didn't suck, the fact that you have to download iTunes to get it is fucking annoying.

That and the alternative(s) don't try to completely take over your machine by putting shit in your system tray or fighting over file associations.

Honestly, I still use Windows Media Player 6.4. With the Nimo and K-Lite codec packs installed, almost everything will run fine. You still need QT for a few things, but not much.

The only reason I have QT is because apple.com usually has movie trailers before other sites, but you need their program to watch them. Thankfully I installed the program before they started mandating a download of iTunes with it. And of course I unselected the option of having their icon in my system tray. So annoying....
I'm all about WMP.

Still doesn't change the fact that Quicktime sucks.

I have Quicktime, but I keep all of the non-Quicktime specific files to Windows Media Player. Why? Because it's better than Quicktime, and iTunes, for that matter. (Fuck you, lower case I. Fuck you hard and deep.)

I hate AIM because no matter how many times I tell it not to start when I boot up my computer, it still does.

That's odd, my AIM complies with my selected option of not starting at boot-up - or displaying aim.com when it starts.

Same here. I've never had any problems with AIM.

I never had problems with AIM, but I switched to Trillian anyway. It's just better.

Our PC is just shitty anyway... it probably has nothing to do with AIM... hence why I bought the iMac.
