Hurling might be the craziest sport I have ever seen. I would gladly pay money to see professionals play this. I would follow it. I would support my team. More importantly, I would enjoy it.

It has all of the elements that a game needs to be fun and entertaining.

1. Swinging a wooden axe ... kinda like a baseball bat
2. Ball must be juggled while running like lacrosse (only 3 steps while holding it in hand)
3. There is a net like soccer/lacross
4. There is a goal post like a football field goal post
5. Hitting is allowed... seemingly encouraged
6. No one wears pads
7. They all run full speed and jump after the ball with no regard for their own personal safety.
8. Catching the ball and hitting it with one's hand is allowed

It is likely that one person would be attempting to catch the ball while another is trying to swing at it. At the same time another player will dive infront while yet another will try to deflect it with their stick being used as a defensive weapon.

Hurling is awesome.

Wouldn't a dozen people running around swinging axes be kind of, I don't know, dangerous?

If you want a general idea as to how the game is played, this should bring you up to speed:

That game is evil. You run around bouncing a giant ping pong ball on a stick while other people try to tackle you down o.O

Also, Who's insane enough to be a goalie on a game like this?

All modern sports suffer from an egregious lack of axes.
