thanks for the input SH.
and i meant rushed as in EVERYTHING was rushed. the league war happened and all it talked about was him sleeping. then it got resolved. then he became governor and bla bla bla. thats like 3 different stories right there covered in the span of 8 pages, or whatever it was.
i guess, ultimately, it doesnt matter. basically, he finished his game, and won. anything else might be superfluous. |
I can understand that. For whatever reason, that never bothered me though. It never felt rushed in a *bad* way to me, but that's just me.

i didnt think it was bad, it just felt awkward in general.
at any rate, the next book depends on what the used book store has available.
and just throwing this out there: animal farm vs 1984... what do you guys like better? (by guys, i mean the group in general... nothing sexist there)

Ender's Game kicked ass, but I personally liked it's counterpart, Ender's Shadow, more.
Orson Scott Card is an awesome writer, check out Treason by him as well.

Wow, you guys are raving quite a bit about this book. A friend read it back when we were in grade school and said it was pretty good; I should have taken his advice, so I'll have to try to find it.

Part of me agrees with you. I find myself re-reading that one more often that EG, although still have a great deal of love for the original. (And I firmly think the original should be read first.)

Personally I think you're good after reading the first book.. I've read them all though. Even the prequel book on Ender's parents.
Their very good, neat and inspiring.

Awesome book. I've been meaning to pick up the direct sequels (fuck that Ender's Shadow bullshit), but I haven't gotten around to it.

Ender's shadow was actually really entertaining, pehaps it's because it was the first book (my favorite of all the books) told again, but this time from Bean's perspective.

Ya, but he didn't have Ender's Charisma!!!! But bean was cool, i can't beleive you learn all the role he played in the first one. I'm not sure if the author had those hidden details in the back of his mind, as he wrote Ender's Game, or if he just made up a story for bean ,in Ender's Shadow.
I like Ender's philosophy, it's very much akin to my own. When it comes to the Kantian view of intentionality, and maxims. I want to say the author is Catholic, or protestant, I can't remember. Eitherway he wrote some great work, and even if you ignore his philosophical undertones, it's just a really good piece of literature.
