Would Syd and the moderators consider offering a private forum for regular site members?

This forum would be similar to the nWo but it would offer limited moderation from the site staff. The forum would be for backchannel communication between members and would serve as a place where discussions could occur that may be best left private from the rest of the world.

Examples of usage:

• Things like pictures of users could be posted in this space instead of the general forum where everyone on the internet can see them.
  
• Backlog chat for the IRC channel could be placed here so that quotes are visible to members but perhaps aren’t recorded on the web for ever.
  
• Personal computer problems rather than in the general forum where they might broadcast details that the rest of the world shouldn’t know, for example, IP addresses
  
• Gaming console codes/tags
  
• Hooking up for gaming sessions between members
  
• This shit makes me really ____________ threads
  
• Any other topics that people would feel more comfortable keeping in the community could be posted into this forum.

What would not belong in this forum are purely argumentative threads, nudity, discussions about bodily waste, links or references to heinous crimes. In addition, the rest of the site would remain as is and serve its function but with less clutter from internal communication messages that litter our threads and forums. For the most part, this forum would be safe for work. NSFW material has its place, the nWo exists in its format for a reason.

Moderation would be necessary to keep out the aforementioned topics and posts, but would otherwise be lighter than the rest of the site.

I realize that this would require a bit of work on the part of Syd and the Moderators, but I think it is worth it in the long run and that it would offer positive growth to the site and a deeper relationship between the members.

In my mind anyone who proved they were a real person and a community member would be welcome. A few posts in the forum, chats in IRC, edits to the Wiki, replies to the news site. It isn't supposed to be restrictive to people who are members o the community, it is supposed to act as a first tier of privacy from the rest of the web so that people can't just drive by the site and see everyone's business.
