Reading a CYOA book is not fun, and thus does not belong in this forum. Seriously. Don't read them. Don't even read my article when it goes live. Just hold on to your memories and assume that they were awesome.

I laughed pretty hard at a lot of these. My favorites were "Billy Trips Balls", "You're Gonna Die", and Shrodinger's Cat (You're the star of the story! Choose from 2 possible outcomes!)

First post on Syd Lexia.com...I gotta say I love this site. You guys sound a lot like some people I used to hang out with in the Reading/Wakefield/Woburn area.

Did anyone ever read "the golden sword of dragonwalk"? It was a cheesy CYOA circa 1982. All I remember is that blue-faced witches kill you in 50 different endings.

What about "Secret of the Ninja?" Who could resist?

I'm pretty sure I read Secret of the Ninja (if it was about some mystical katana).

Wakefield is a great town. You'd be lucky to hang out with anyone from there.

I read one about this kid who does some science experiment with Jello, but then it turns sentient and you either fight it off in one ending or die somehow in the 49 other endings.

I don't always keep up with outdated pop culture news, so I only learned of R.A. Montgomery's rewrites of a few of their earlier CYOA books recently. These updates have piqued my interest somewhat. Time to find an old copy and then compare.

You know I actually bought this book "Whatever You Want" from this dirt cheap bookstore. I guess romantic CYOAs were trying to be successful for awhile. I went on Amazon and found a few more.

OMG, that was some really sweet stuff. I still own a few of those books that survived my nomadism...they rocked. I even made my own costum score sheet, full of fantasy-style deco. I also had the AD&D version of those books, a bit more complex but essencially the same.
