I was reading a dated issue of EGM. The issue when the everyone was excited over GTA: Vice City (Dec. 2002) and I stumbled across a comic strip about two video game designers, Hsu and Chan. I have a bad habit of finding my old EGM mags and reading dated articles about various games and such. I used to remember reading Hsu and Chan, and cracking up.

I decided to head over to 1up.com in search of more things Hsu and Chan, and BLAM! There it is, a weekly web comic and not to mention several comic mags out on store shelves, thanks to Slave Labor. Does anybody share my obsession?

Hsu and Chan is awesome! I used to have all my old gaming mags saved but I guess I lost them all when I moved. I only have two copies of EGM now. I like reading through them and looking at all the ridiculous stuff they thought was going to come out or games they thought would be great and nobody ever heard of them after they came out.

hehe, i thought i was the only one who read old video game mags. i used to have a ton of nintendo power mags, but then i threw them away or traded them in at bookmans when i was going thru my 'dont want any material things' phase.

I still have the first few issues of EGM, GamePro, and Nintendo Power as well as several other gaming magazines dating from the late 80s/early 90s. I glance through them every now and then too. I especially enjoyed rereading the articles on the Gameboy, SNES, and Genesis prior to their release. I just remembered the first time I read those articles and how much I was looking forward to them. I still have most of the Nintendo Fun Club magazines too (I never received the first 2 issues). Being a nostalgic packrat has its moments.

Yeah, I have tons of old EGM mags, some dating back to 1998. I even had the issue where they acted like Ocarina of Time was like the second coming of Christ. Speaking of old N64 favorites. Anyone remember this commercial?

Ah yeah, Foxtrot, along with Calvin and Hobbes and Far Side, was always one of my favorite comics. Loved it since the first time I saw it, but it cemented itself in my comic pantheon the week before the first X-Files movie came out, when every single strip that week was about what costume Jason wanted to wear to the premiere Laughing . As a huge XF fan, I couldn't not love that.
