He that shall not be named was banished from the lands not so long ago. I think live and let die is an appropriate theme given the circumstances. Lets forgo this award.

Hey, I'll take that award, I'll be happy just to get one. Maybe it's time to resurrect the Food Forum Militia just to get the acadamy's attention before the awards. |
But... WHY DON'T WE HAVE A TECH FORUM?!?! |
You silly little bastard. We need no such thing!

Id show up, but I am a selfish bastard and would know that I would not even be nominated for any of these awards.
i blame it on my lack of being around for a few months.

Maybe you could get an award for most consistant signature, you've had that one for a long time now.

I was going to start this thread yesterday, but I thought it would be too cheesy. Since it's out there now though, let's do it. The nomination period will extent through January 14th. Giving you two full weeks past the end of the year to review all potential candidates from 2008.
Another reason I hesitated on this is because we could probably come up with 50-100 different categories. Let's try and agree on some categories, then we'll begin nominations. Here are some of my suggestions:
Best thread (perhaps a separate one for each of the most activate boards?)
Best new poster
Best veteran poster
Best motivational poster
Best female poster
Best poster in a supporting role
Best signature
Best avatar
Best running joke
Um... I dunno what else.
I wouldn't mind some "Worst" categories for threads, but there will be no worst poster categories, because that's just mean.

Best Female Poster seems kind of silly -- surely we could just call that one "Best Samantha McPoopenstein"?
I like the other ones, though. Of course, we might want to set some criteria for "Best." Does "best" mean funny? Prolific? Insightful? Etc.

I just want to be nominated.
I think "best" is just everyone voting on the thread the liked the best, egardless of what it is about.

Some thoughts:
* We would have to define what it means to be a "new poster"
* We should call posters "Forumers"
* Add category: Most critical grammar Nazi
* Add category: Most likely to be drunk while posting
* Add category: Most intelligent forumer
* Add category: Most likely to derail a thread by accident

codpiece. I haven't heard that word in a while.
Oldest and youngest wouldn't have nominees. They could only have winners. So it would be more or less like an achievement award.

Oldest and Youngest could have nominees.
It is age based on perception. For example: I think that Syd Lexia is 47 years old even if he constantly claims he is 28.

Who would represent 'The Academy'? Would people want the mods to vote, or have people's choice?

I think that each award could have 4-5 people as nominees (they could be selected by the mods) then a vote could be done in the forums as a poll. Leave it up for a 3 day span or something.
