Taking this thread even further off-topic, one of my first-ever movie projects was an MST3K-style treatment of the Dungeons & Dragons movie. We filmed a number of "host segments" featuring a bunch of high schoolers playing D&D in their basement, and the movie was the game they were playing -- complete with riff commentary. |
The idea of D&D players sitting around playing D&D which would translate into the interesting parts of the movie (ala "Princess Bride") was a screenplay myself and two others tried to write shortly after Jimmy Olsen's* "Dungeons and Dragons" came out. It was so bad, I don't think I have anything left from that draft... Except one conversation exchange about whether "12+" means "twelve or higher", or "higher than twelve"; I remember that scene following a moment where the movie/game hero gets eaten by a dragon.
Oh, and I haven't seen "Totally Awesome"... but I will check out Kiefer Sutherland's rock doc later this week.
